The Advantages Of Leasing A Property Before Buying In Panama City | Add Comment

I completely agree that you should rent before moving here. For the $475 you are in a small old, unfurnished studio with louvered windows, no AC, no hot water, no social area, on a busy noisy street. Not sure why you would want to do that to yourself. You can rent a much nicer apartment in Reno NV for that price. But you can also rent a “luxury” apartment in down town on the water front with a beautiful ocean view, AC, Hot water, double pain windows that block out the traffic noise for $1,600, to $1,800 per month furnished, with cable TV and high speed internet included. Panama City ahs traffic bad traffic, but from where I live on Balboa Ave. I just walk to everything, (even though the city is not walker friendly yet) On Sunday afternoon Hato Pintado, or Bethania are 15 minutes from down town Panama during the week it is an hour of fighting traffic. You can buy a house in Arraijan 30 minutes out of the city on Sunday and an hour in peak traffic for under $30,000 you can also pay $700,000 in the same area depending on the house you buy. There are many places in the US that are cheaper to live than Panama, and many Cities that are more expensive. Panama is hugely diverse and changes rapidly in short distances. You have to figure out why you want to come here. (I live here and love it) But it is not for everyone it is not all that cheap, (for me it is more expensive from where I came from in the US) so best to rent first and see if you like it, and where you want to live. Fully furnished, full service “luxury apartments” can be rented by the month for about $1,800 and up through places like http://www.Panamacasa.com . You may want to do this before buying furniture and moving into a $500 dump in a 3rd world country. And defiantly before buying a home here. It can be great to live in a growing vibrant city on the ocean, knowing where and why you want to live here will help the part of it being great rather than a disappointment.
