  • Real Estate Fraud Dominican Republic 3/14/2009
Dominican Watchdog is currently investigation a large amount of consumer complaints from buyers of Marbella and Las Olas pre-construction units in Metro Country Club. The construction has stopped and the ownership of Marbella and Las Olas is no longer clear. We have received a short notice from Steve Ankrom vice president of Group Metro that the original owner of the land where Marbella was under construction has stepped in to take control. However, it’s not clear if Metro Country Club and its owner Dr Luis Asilis have filed for creditor and bankruptcy protection. We have asked for further information but have not been given details about how to contact the old land owners. Dominican Watchdog strongly advice that no further payments are done to GROUP METRO or any of its related companies until the issues are clear and your money is safe. Any due payments should be paid into Escrow accounts until that time when a clean title in your name can be issued. Dominican Watchdog is interested in hearing from all buyers of Costablanca by Metro, Marbella, Costa del Sol 2 and Las Olas in order to estimate the amount of money taken from investors without using a professional title guarantee company. At the same time Dominican Watchdog is issuing an important warning against the real estate company Villas & Castillos which operates in Santo Domingo, Casa de Campo and Juan Dolio on the Dominican Republic. The owner Mr Oscar Valenzuela has issued personal checks from his US checking account in the amount of USD 300,000 to a foreign seller of an apartment in Metro Country Club. Mr Oscar Valenzuela has not being able to honor his checks and legal process has started in the United States against him for fraud. If you have been a victim of Villas y Castillos and Mr Oscar Valenzuela or the joint owners of Metro Country Club - Dr Asilis and Mr Steve Ankrom then please contact Dominican Watchdog.
