Why The Time To Invest In Oil Is Now | Add Comment

  • Oil Shocks 5/24/2009
I've read a lot of content on this in commodity circles. Most seem to expect a short rally for a couple of months in oil and gas, but that 3rd and 4th quarter 2009 could see $30 per bbl again. In 2003, the US Oil Industry published plenty of reports stating that stated $60 per bbl was the amount needed to make cracking old wells profitable... and everyone new that the $147 bbl price of 2008 was pure speculation, didn't have anything to do with supply and demand. Rather than invest heavily in oil, we should be relentlessly faxing and calling our representatives to kill the $400 billion oil company tax being proposed and asking them to support expanding resources available for exploration and extraction. If we don't start now, we will be behind the 8-ball. I hate to promote investment in stock futures because it only drives up the price. But buying small amounts fo stock on a regular basis is probably a good idea for the long run. Even if prices do fall in 4th quarter, we know they won't stay that way for long.
