This is a private equity, closed Luxembourg SICAB SIF fund which is looking at a macrotrend in population growth, industrialisation of transition economies and increasing scarcity of fossil energy resources which dictates the need and opportunity for such a fund, which  is investing in distressed farming operations capturing the opportunities presented from undermanaged or underfunded farming operations with high upside potential.  The macrotrends we are looking at include :

. migration from rural to urban areas

. loss of agricultural land

. desertification - depletion of sweet water resources

. increased wealth of the lower and middle income segments and changes in dietary habits

. demand for meat and milk rising faster than population

. shift from fossil to rehewable biofuels

The expected return : more than 20% IRR

Placement period : through December 2009
