The recovery phase after the economic recession is favourable for the construction industry. During the recession, the housing sector was the major victim and in fact, the decline of housing sector in 2005 is one the major factor for economic recession in 2008. However, the post-recession period saw some resemblance of growth in housing industry. All the associated industries of housing are started to flourish again. As a whole the price of houses is rising steadily in developed economies like US, Canada and UK. As per studies and prediction the slow and steady growth of this housing sector is good for its economy and it will not create an alarming situation in the near future. Also, the governments of world countries are making effort to maintain a static price in housing sector.

Proliferation of fabricators

According to Fabricator and installer report, one of the key associated industries with housing sector, fenestration industry is growing and it has shown increase in revenue for the first time in last five years after the recession. The report also shows that there is increase in number of doors, windows and conservatory companies over 12 months period and now it is 15,137 companies. After the hit PVC-U fabricators was the lone survivor in five years which has some mediocre performance. But the total fabricators including PVC-U, timber and aluminium has increased by 4,278 companies from which timber and aluminium growth has significantly improved. Competition between installer and general builder

The fall of PVC-U is because of increased awareness in people about the aluminium fabrication. There is demand for aluminium bi-folding doors and windows among installers and house owners. Also, 17.5 % of PVC-U fabricators are started to manufacture aluminium fabrications which are also one of the reasons for decline of PVC-U doors and windows. Along with fabricators, the installers are also increasing rapidly. Bi-fold doors, sliders and coloured frames have more value so the installers suggest high value items to the house owners to earn high. The increase in installers is threat to general constructers and builders. The installers are expert in setting the frames, doors and windows people lean towards them. Eventually, general builders started to provide exterior doors and windows to attract more customer base which also acts as competitor for installers. At the same, time some installers are working with general house builders.

Materialistic approach on quality

The established builders are started to produce fabricators which will be a great risk to small regional makers. One of the leading industries www.ontarioexteriorsolutions.ca said that PVC and timber fabricators are at the brink of existence. It seems Aluminium fenestration will surpass the other products in coming years. Its efficiency against thermal, its aesthetic look, and its strength are comparatively higher than other materials such as PVC and wood. The rate of aluminium is also falling down which adds further boost to the fabricators. Also, their comfort ability in manufacturing and installing let the people prefer aluminium. It is more eco-friendly and sustainable, it is believed that aluminium is the future material of this industry.
