Granada,
Nicaragua
is the fourth largest city in Nicaragua and is situated on the largest fresh water lake in Central America. Lake Cocibolca also known as Lake Nicaragua is the twentieth largest lake in the world and features two volcanic islands Ometepe and Zapatera.
Currently Granada is considered by many to be the safest real estate investment location in Nicaragua due to its rich cultural history, its proximity to Managua and the international airport, and its reputation as the hub of tourism for Nicaragua.
The city’s long tumultuous history includes several raids by pirates who sailed up the San Juan River from the Caribbean Ocean. Granada is architecturally important because of its colonial homes, and early European churches.
Granada has applied to UNESCO to be recognized as an International Heritage Site (IHS) and is awaiting confirmation. Many investors believe that the IHS designation by UNESCO will increase Granada’s world-wide status as a significant historical tourist destination.
