Leon, Nicaragua is the second largest city next to Managua and is located approximately nine miles from the Pacific Ocean in the northwest section of the country. Along with Granada, Leon is one of the first cities established by Europeans in Central America. Because of its age Leon boasts a long and colorful history with an abundance of Spanish colonial architecture. Leon is also considered the intellectual center of Nicaragua with its national University founded in 1813.
Investment in Leon has surged recently as real estate prices in more popular areas such as Granada and San Juan Del Sur have increased.
