Decorating a child’s bedroom can be a headache at any time, especially when you are moving into a new home and developers do not always think in a child friendly way. But now one is offering a dream bedroom for youngsters based on the world famous Lego bricks.

Developer Weston Homes has used standard and bespoke Lego bricks, mini figures and themed accessories to create a children’s bedroom on offer as some of their latest developments.

Working closely with interior design consultancy Blocc Interiors, Weston Homes devised an innovative interior design scheme using Lego’s famous primary colours. The result is a bold bright red, black, yellow and bright grey color scheme for the children’s bedroom.

Bespoke items such as the Evolution on the Lego Man wall sticker and oversized Lego brick headboard, framed mini figures, carpet and cupboards, have been mixed with standard Lego products including clocks, bins, mini figures, robots and other toys.

Buyers can opt for as Lego themed children’s bedroom with each one being created to order with a budget of between £3,000 to £5,000 but those spending £350,000 or more with the company on any given site can get a Lego themed children’s room free of charge.

Once the Lego pieces are ordered and delivered, the design scheme agreed and the room fitted with sockets, carpets and primed walls, then the Lego themed room can be created within 24 to 48 hours depending on the level of complexity needed for the design.

In addition to creating a special library of Lego room photography, Weston Homes has also created a Lego themed children’s bedroom within the marketing suite of their Silverbrook development of 73 luxury three and four bedroom family houses in the village of Markyate in Hertfordshire.

‘Lego is a global brand loved by children of all ages and it also evokes fond memories from parents who remember the toy from their own childhood days. All the families who visit our Silverbrook marketing suite are enchanted with the Lego themed room and it has definitely helped to play a role our success at promoting the houses to families with children,’ said Bob Weston, chairman and managing director of Weston Homes.

Jonathan Lewis, the firm’s sales and marketing director, explained that the Lego themed bedroom has been designed so that it can adapt as the occupant grows and matures. The Lego themed fittings, fixtures and accessories can be upgraded to provide more advanced toys and themes as a child enters their teenage years. Younger children will like mini-figures and basic toys, whilst older children may want a Lego train set, Star Wars themed Lego room or a room dressed with Lego games.

Invented in 1949 by Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen, Lego is arguably the world’s most popular and successful toy brand with a new movie, games, themed amusement parks and themed toys.

Made of super strong acrylonitrile plastic, each year some £2.4 billion worth of Lego products are sold around the world, and some 19 billion Lego items and bricks are manufactured each year which is enough to circle the world five times.

Currently it is estimated that there are over 560 billion Lego parts in circulation around the globe, enough to connect the Earth and the moon more than 10 times over. Lego has calculated that seven Lego sets are sold by retailers every second around the world, and they estimate that children around the world spend some five billion hours a year playing with Lego.

In addition, more than 400 million people have played with Lego at some time during their lifetime.
